Place to stay in Caye Caulker?

Place to stay in Caye Caulker?

Postby callyb on Wed Oct 29, 2008 9:13 pm

Hello everyone - First of all let me say thank you to all of you who have post Belize vacation reviews. I have enjoyed using them to assist me in planning my trip.

Trents or Trenton's, the place I wanted to stay at is booked solid during the time I am looking at going. I am also looking at a place called Popeyes which is located just down from the water taxi doc. Has anyone stayed there? Any comments? In addition does anyone know how far of a walk it is to the Split? Are bike rentals available and if they are do they work well on the sand beaches? I know we can rent a golf cart but will probably choose not to in order to save $ since our hotel may end up costing us more than we planned.

In addition if there is any VT members that will be in Caye Caulker Dec 26th 07 - Jan 1st 08 my boyfriend and I would love to hook up for a drink to say hello!

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Never stayed at Popeye's. It looks nice enough from the outside. We've generally gotten a house or cabana.

You don't need a golf cart and you don't really need a bicycle unless you just want one. The island is very small. We stayed below the airport our first visit there. We walked to town (so to speak) to get dinner. From there we walked to the split and then back to where we were staying. From Popeye's, I doubt its over a half mile. Its a pleasant walk in any event.

I'd happily let you and your boyfriend buy us a beer but we won't be there. We're been there 3 straight years and may go somewhere else.

The bikes may not do that well on the beaches but will do fine on the sand streets. As I said before, don't need one and will have more fun walking. You meet more people that way.

I think Caye Caulker is a nice, relaxing place. No reason you shouldn't love it.
