Lamanai Tour

Lamanai Tour

Postby RedRose on Mon Sep 29, 2008 11:02 am

Just got back home after a fun vacation in Ambergris Caye. We stayed at El Pescador. This is a lovely place. The staff, the water, the dives, and all that came with the package. It was only my husband and i on this vacation. We usually travel in groups. This year was a little different. We wanted to do it all on our own.

The only problem we found was booking the tour of Lamanai. The staff at Rl Pescador refused to book us for the Lamanai excursion because it was only two of us. We were very disappointed. We took a walk downtown to try to hook up with a company that will be offering the excursion.

We visited two companies and had the same problem. They don't do the tours if they don't atlest 8 persons for the tours. We met a couple who had the same problem. A cop was passing by and I stopped him and asked him if he can assist us with booking this excursion. He told us about an X-cop who owns a tour company. He gave us only his number. We called the number and spoke to some one who identified himself as Donald. I tild him about our interest in the lamanai tour. He instructed us to board the first ferry the following morning at 7:00. The other couple joined us for the excursion. When we arrive in Belize City Donald was there witha sign. We entered his Ford Explorer and off we went.

When we arrive at the board an hour later Jason was there with fresh food, sodas, and water for us. The river cruise was very relaxing. The tour of the ruins was also great. We had a fun time on this tour and would recommend to all.

It is so sad that the hotels and resorts on Ambergris Caye will not do tours if they don't have 8 persons. I am hoping that this will change soon.

Great review, Red Rose. I am with a group of 16 that will be on Ambergris Caye in December. We are thinking of doing a tour of lamanai on our free day. I will get in touch with this company.

What was the price of the tour of lamanai?

Thank you

We paid only $110.00 per/ person and this is cheaper than the price on the Island. This is great services that I would recommend to all.

My family will be in Ambergris Caye in late May, 2009. We will be staying at Xanadu. We did some inquiries about tours on the mainland and the tours are very expensive. So I booked my family for the lamanai tour, A.T.V, cave tubing and zip line tours. the prices of the above company is about half the prices for the tours.

Thank you very much for a great review, RedRose

I was made to understand that the rivers in Belize are flooding. Is this true? Can the tour of lamanai be done with the flood?

Some of the rivers in southern and western Belize are flooding. it is safe to do the lamanai tour. The rivers in the north are not flooding. You will still be able to do the river cruise to lamanai.
There is a reason why you know.
There is also a reason you are not to know the rest.

I am now back home after a really fun vacation in Ambergris Caye. I was with a really wild group and we had a lot of fun diving with El Pescador Inn. For our lamanai tour we booked directly with Action Boys Belize. I have to say that their services were great. Our tour guide was Roberto ( Tarzan ). He is a house full of knowledge and would recommend tham highly.

Lamanai ruins on mainland Belize

Postby Felipe on Tue Jan 13, 2009 5:13 am

Its worth waking up early for such fantastic tour. The ferry was a bit crowded, but the Belizean people that were on the ferry were fun people to be with. As we got off the ferry i noticed that Donald was holding a sign with my name. He told us to use the restrooms before boardig the van. He also asked if we would like to get some tacos before leaving the City.

The river cruise was fun. We took a lot of pics of birds, crocs, and howler monkeys that were on the river bank. Arriving on the site we were adviced to use the restroom and then gather for lunch. Wow! Lunch was rice and beans. It ws the best rice I have tasted!

Lamanai is the most beautiful maya ruin I have visited. The High Temple - make sure you climb for the best views of the area.

Thanks to Donald and Action Boys Belize for making our tour of lamanai an awesome experience.
